Wednesday, October 24, 2012

Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday

Monday - no run - injured knees
Tuesday - small slow jog around Blackwattle Bay
Wednesday - no run due to of injuries.

Sunday, October 21, 2012

Thursday,Friday,Saturday,Sunday,

Thursday  - set off to do Iron Cove but right knee injury now a lot worse - kept collapsing as unable to weight bear - particularly downhill - so ended up practically limping back over Anzac bridge - about 25 mins.
Friday - didn't run due to injured knee
Saturday - had to pull plug on planned 75km overnight run on Central Coast as couldn't trust knee to be OK
Sunday - no run due to knee injury...

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

Tuesday,Wednesday

Tuesday - work day so didn't get around to running as was very tired again.
Wednesday - Planned to run around Iron Cove - but ran much shorter - over Anzac bridge and home - around 25 min jog.

Monday, October 15, 2012

Monday

Usual lap of Iron Cove Bay from Glebe in a rather slow 1:02 - thought I had a bit of a virus yesterday but after a pretty good sleep can't really use this as any kind of excuse.Still having problems with from of Left knee - but it seems to be improving rather then getting worse.

Sunday, October 14, 2012

Friday/Saturday/Sunday

Friday - set out to run the normal Iron Cove Bay loop - but whimped out by crossing Anzac Bridge and making it a short 25 min jog as was totally shot/knackered...
Saturday - worked 9 hours without lunch so no chance of going for a run...
Sunday - lap of the harbour in 1:45 - reasonable time but suffered with very sore toes to right foot again....

Friday, October 12, 2012

Thursday

Just 1 X long loop about 10km in 45 mins - weather turned very wet and stormy....

Saturday/Sunday/Monday

Saturday - took advantage of wet cooler conditions to do a harbour lap - but ran very slow and tired in 1:52.
Sunday - lap of Iron Cove - reasonable 1:02 but still feeling tired...
Monday - did 5 hours work - but left me drained and didn't make it out for a run at all....

Friday, October 5, 2012

Friday

Was way too tired to get up early today and had to have a lie in - when I finally got out for a run at 11:30 it was very hot and windy.I turned the Iron Cove Bay loop into a jog and spent time chatting to another runner so ended up taking a long time to complete the jog....

Thursday, October 4, 2012

Sat/Sun/Mon/Tues/Wed/Thur

Saturday :- Penrith half marathon - 1:27:14 - 6th place 3rd over 50....not too displeased as it was quite windy/hot and I didn't have a great deal of speed - but felt I ran as best I could on the day.
Sunday - slow 35min jog around Richmond.
Monday - a slightly faster 40 min jog around Richmond.
Tuesday - (evening) a reasonable lap of Iron Cove from Glebe in 1:00
Wednesday - (morning) a slow 1:05 lap of Iron Cove from Glebe
Thursday - (morning) - a slightly quicker lap of Iron Cove from Glebe in 1:02

Friday, September 28, 2012

Friday

Another very slow jog around Blackwattle bay and over the ANZAC bridge - easy week due to half marathon tomorrow - first "race" in over a year - could be very slow??

Thursday, September 27, 2012

Thursday

Short slow jog over Anzac bridge - Left knee immediately hurting again - possibly patella tracking - when wearing worn Mizunos - but only shoes I have that I can realistically wear for half marathon on Saturday....

Wednesday, September 26, 2012

Wednesday

Iron Cove loop, a little faster in 1:02 - was struggle at lunchtime with a bit of a breeze over the water - still unclear if I have a virus - but at least 2 ongoing injuries are slightly improved.

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

Monday/Tuesday

Monday - quite slow - again lap of Iron Cove in 1:05
Tuesday - very slow jog for around 5km - trying to rest up in case I decide to do a half marathon at Penrith on Saturday...

Sunday, September 23, 2012

Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday....

Thursday - a bit improved but still quite slow lap of Iron Cove in 1:03 - (expected at least this time after 2 rest days!)
Friday - lap of the harbour - slowish in 1:50
Saturday - Iron cove loop - very slow again - 1:09
Sunday - lap of the harbour - really struggled and had to stop to massage very sore toes,(in different shoes)took a very slow 1:55.

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

Sunday/Monday/Tues/Wed

Sunday - very slow 1:05 around Iron Cove - felt very tired and injuries getting worse.
Monday - even slower 1:09 - difficult maintaining a slow jog, very much a lack of motivation at the moment.
Tues - no run just totally tired and pissed off
Wednesday - no run again.

Friday, September 14, 2012

Thursday/Friday

Thursday - Slowish run around the harbour - taking 1:50 - running in old Asics - stiffnes to side of right calf continues but left knee slightly improved with change of shoes.
Friday - went for a sort of job interview in Kingsgrove so jogged very slowly from Glebe in about 1:07 then returned even more slowly as out of energy when arriving back at 3:30 having not eaten since breakfast.....

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

Wednesday

Managed to get around short loop in about 1 hour - but found it very hard work - still feeling tired and running on empty a bit.Tried old Asics as problems with side of right calf and left knee continue.

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

Sunday/Monday/Tuesday

Sunday - long slow run.Did lap of harbour and upon meeting another runner on the approach to Gladesville bridge - ended up adding a lap of Iron Cove bay.Stopped at the end of Iron Cove - for a drink/chat for 5 mins before arriving home in about 2:15 - but apart from the lap of Iron Cove - a pretty sedate run.
Monday - did the usual short run including a lap of Iron Cove bay - and was a little disappointed in the 1 hour it took.
Tuesday - felt energyless from the start and the usual short loop turned into more of a jog then run only managing to get out just before 1pm - taking about 1:10.Hope I'm not getting the virus that seems to be being caught by everyone - especially around the share place I'm living....

Saturday, September 8, 2012

WED/THUR/FRI/SAT

Unable to maintain speed wed - and finished tired in 1:01
Thursday - worked - 4 hours but still too tired after to run...
Friday - just a slow jog to Randwick/Centennial Park - back through city...
Saturday - managed 57 1/2 mins for Iron Cove loop despite windy conditions - so not too bad after rest days....

Tuesday, September 4, 2012

Tuesday

Finally managed to crack the hour for the Iron Cove bay loop - a "blistering" 58 mins - Managed to run at pretty much optimum speed for the majority of the run - easing slightly when too much in Oxygen debt and although a general feeling of lung bursting pain - felt a lot better than of late.

Monday, September 3, 2012

Thursday,Friday,Saturday,Sunday,Monday.

Thursday - worked 10 hours+ so was knackered when finally arrived home.
Friday - lap of the harbour from Glebe - via Piermont,Harbour, - Crows nest - Burns Bay,Fig tree,Gladesville,Iron Cove bridges - return to Glebe in 1:46 - OK apart from usual terribly painful toes from about 12km on.
Saturday - Iron cove loop - 1:0 for the run - first time managed in exactly 1 hour!!
Sunday - Long run - from Glebe to Coogee - Bondi - C2S in reverse - back to Glebe via Ultimo, took a total of 3:20 but included 2 long toe massaging stops at Military road and between Double bay and Edgcliff,
Monday - Iron Cove loop - bust a gut but still failed to break the hour - another 1:00 exactly run....

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Tuesday,Wed,Thur,Friday,Sat,Sun,Mon,Tues,Wed

Back in Sydney....
Tuesday - Travelling back to Australia,
Wednesday - arrived Wednesday morning but far too tired to run as jetlag started at 3pm - 10pm,
Thursday - Again messed up by leaving 'till afternoon when jetlag had started - so another day missed,
Friday - 14.74km From Glebe to and around Iron Cove Bay - a rather slow 1:08
Saturday - 14.74km Iron Cove loop - about 1:05
Sunday - Lap of the harbour (will calculate distance later) - took about 1:50 - toes very very sore,
caught up with some Strider friends on harbour bridge who were at 28km already so slowqed for a chat for a couple of kays.
Monday - missed due to working 10 hours,
Tuesday - Iron Cove loop - much better in 1:01 left knee remains very sore,(patella tracking?)
Wednesday - Iron Cove loop - struggled in morning run for entire distance but managed to record another 1:01

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

Sunday & Monday

Sunday - did the 2 hour trail run for the fourth day - not particularly fast - just wanted to get a few kays in before travelling back to Sydney.Currently in K.L. awaiting onward flight with sore left knee and dehydration swollen legs etc after overnight flight following long bus trip.

Sunday, August 19, 2012

Saturday

Set off with the intention of doing an easy day with a 1 hour trail run - but feeling good - probably due to Nurofen - decided to do the 2 hour trail loop instead.Setting off at 1:30pm and having not eaten since breakfast I struggled with energy and both lots of toes were very painful also - but managed to finally finish tired and hungry...

Saturday, August 18, 2012

Friday

Another time around the trails - this time taking about 2 hours.Left front of knee getting quite sore - will take Nurofen.
Toes also very bad on right foot.Highlight was passing a barge at Astley sporting an Aussie flag - talked briefly to the Queenslander captain...

Friday, August 17, 2012

Thursday

Back to Lancashire and a 1:55 run along dissused railway lines and canal towpaths.Weather quite nice again and OK apart from sore knee and toes.

Wednesday

14km run around country lanes of Shropshire in the rain - took quite a while - about 1:15 as was quite hilly and I was running very slowly....

Wednesday, August 15, 2012

Tuesday

Rest day - was in Shropshire - went for a countryside walk for about 1 hour but took a rest from running due to knee injury to left knee and tightness above right fibula.

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

Monday

Did longer option again - from a different address - which took 2 hours - feeling quite tired in latter part and toes also painful as usual.Almost all off road and at quite slow pace.

Sunday, August 12, 2012

Sunday

Ran 14.81km loop early,( 9:30 am),to get back for Olympic marathon start.Felt pretty good and weather surprisingly cool - I was disappointed when seeing the clock at finish to see it had taken me 1:05 as it seemed/felt faster.

Saturday

Tried the longer off road option again and ran a little quicker and more purposeful today - finishing in 1:54 having made one navigational error adding about 200m.Unable to calculate distance on Map My Run as almost fully off road following canal bank, rails and disused railway lines.

Friday, August 10, 2012

Wednesday,Thursday,Friday.

Wednesday - Felt reasonable apart from on hills for 14.81km loop but was disappointed at seeing the clock on return to see I had again taken 1:04.
Thursday - felt exhausted and couldn't face another hard run also weather has become quite hot over last few days - ended up doing a long slow jog with frequent stops along canal side and disused railway lines - taking about 2 hours including stops.
Friday - set off with purpose but again wheels fell off after about 5km - but finally realised that lack of form is related to large increase in pollen as I could definitely feel it in the stomach eyes etc - was glad to finish in a  jog in 1:06.I should have realised seeing all the mowers out in the last 2 days that pollen count would have increased a lot.

Wednesday, August 8, 2012

Tuesday

Went off a little easier in slightly hotter weather (14.81km) - but again struggled with both breathing and felt a couple of injuries developing - ITB and quad to Right leg - so felt I wasn't running as smooth or fast - I was pleasantly surprised that I finished in 1:04 - as it felt I had slowed more - but still would like to be doing the distance in 1:01 or faster....

Tuesday, August 7, 2012

Monday

Another change of address and back to favoured 14.81km loop. After yesterdays good run went out really hard - probably way to hard and found myself stuggling from about 5km to about 8km to the top of the main climb.Seemed to recover and finished quite well but still took 1:03 so 2 mins off best time again.

Monday, August 6, 2012

Sunday

Thought todays run would be slow as I started less then an hour after a huge lunch.Tried the 18.98km loop that climbs steadily for the first 8km - and felt pretty good so pushed on and really enjoyed the run finishing in 1:23.

Sunday, August 5, 2012

Saturday

Smaller loop of 12.15km - in about 55 mins - quite nice running weather - not too hot and a slight cooling breeze.
Left knee still sore at front and a little leg soreness.

Saturday, August 4, 2012

Friday

Set off for an easy run off road on trails today - bumped into an old running friend after 10 mins and half hour later set off again after chatting.Jogged for about an hour on trails....

Friday, August 3, 2012

Thursday

Tried the 18.98km loop that has a steady climb or two.Was quite a painful experience - firstly of course the toes on Right foot - but also a fair bit of leg soreness quads etc - and was glad to finish.Rather slow in 1:28 - I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to repeat this run tomorrow....so may think of an easier alternative.

Thursday, August 2, 2012

Wednesday

Went off hard into a bit of a headwind - but was struggling from about 7km - and breathing heavily on the couple of hilly sections - tried hard throughout but could only manage 1:03 today - had to go early less then an hour after a big breakfast due to another accommodation move,
but wouldn't use that as an excuse....(14.81km)

Wednesday, August 1, 2012

Tuesday

Decided to go all out to try and further improve over the 14.81km loop and was pleased to finish with a further 2 min improvement in 1:01 - again even better conditions - between the rain and practically no breeze.

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

Monday

Again near perfect conditions for running - but really surprised myself by running 1:03 for a 2 min p.b. over the 14.81km course - finishing into a headwind.Really put quite a lot of effort in but didn't feel I was moving that fast and still feeling a little rough around the gills from the virus I had last week.Hope these conditions remain for the Olympic marathons as some pretty good times could be achieved.

Monday, July 30, 2012

Sunday

Back on the 14.81km loop and in pretty good cool conditions finished in 1:08 which is 2-3 mins slower then before taking a 2 week break so not too bad/worried as I still feel a bit of virus hanging round.More worrying is a Left knee injury I've had for a week or so to the front inside below kneecap.

Sunday, July 29, 2012

Saturday

Rest day.

13TH - 27TH July - Bulgaria

Very hot weather so eased off the training - but still managing to jog from Albena to Balchik return 7 times,(about15km),
plus 2 other shorter runs.Had a virus which lasted for 4 days which meant a few rest days but did also do quite a lot of walking.

Friday, July 13, 2012

Friday the 13th

Tour De France - coverage started at 12 noon again today and I set off for run at 10:59 - meaning I'd have to equal my best time from last night again if I was to see the intro.Happy to say I again managed the 13.77km in 1:01 to arrive bang on noon - in great running weather of about 18C a slight cool breeze and just a hint of rain.I'll only see 2 of the 5 hours of coverage as I'm off to Bulgaria at 2pm for 2 weeks so tomorrows run may be in 30C heat.

Thursday

Good news and bad news.On a very hot day ran later,(after Tour De France coverage),and managed to knock another minute off the 13.77km loop in 1:01 unfortunately a quad injury that had started to show yesterday was not only still there but getting quite sore.I'm not too worried that it will be a problem and will try to find a stretch that may help as I never stretch quads due to knackered knee joints.

Wednesday, July 11, 2012

Wednesday

Same 13.77km loop as yesterday - but unlike yesterday - was trying today - a couple of breathless parts - particularly on suggestions of hills but still an improvement finishing in 1:02

Tuesday

A new 13.77km route today and wasn't running particularly hard after the last 2 days efforts.Took 1:05 in pretty good cooler weather.

Tuesday, July 10, 2012

Monday

Did the old 18.98km loop I used to cover in about 1:10 to 1:15 a few years ago - this time I took 1:27 - but felt reasonable apart from the usual very sore toes on the right foot.

Sunday, July 8, 2012

Saturday & Sunday

The 14.81km loop both days.Saturday was stinking hot with quite a lot of pollen in the air - sore toes also made for a pretty hard run and taking 1:07.
Sunday - felt a lot better - far cooler - less pollen and was surprised that I'd only managed 1:05 as I felt I'd ran pretty consistent throughout - both days felt under the pump as trying to get back to view the Tour De France - Today Sunday the entire race is broadcast - 4.5 hours....

Saturday, July 7, 2012

Friday

Back to the 14.81km loop - great running weather - a months rainfall in 24 hours....nice cool conditions and although it felt really slow and hard going to begin with - ran the latter half OK once over the hill...finished in equal best time of 1:05.

Thursday

Was late setting off and also felt very tired from the off....I decided to cancel the plan run and instead went for a slow jog along the canal and ended up at the new Leigh Harriers track in the new sports village.Had a look around and said hi to a couple of Harriers and carried on with the jog along the canal then back through the town centre.

Thursday, July 5, 2012

Wednesday

Same 14.81km loop - again quite warm and humid - again tried hard throughout - finished with same result as yesterday 1:06 and hadn't much left at the end.

Wednesday, July 4, 2012

Tuesday

Again went for the 14.81km - even warmer and more humid today and other factors were contributing to make for a hard days run.As it turned out the end result was not too bad 1:06 - but it was difficult throughout and sore toes made for an uncomfortable last 4km.

Monday, July 2, 2012

Monday

Couldn't resist trying to further improve my time over the 14.81km loop - weather quite windless today with high humidity so felt warm - compared to yesterday.Pushed hard the whole way and don't think I could have done much better.Finished in the same time as yesterday - in 1:05, so no improvement but no depreciation either.

Sunday

Much cooler weather today and setting off with a tailwind thought I'd once again try to improve on the 14.81km loop, finishing into a headwind ran pretty steady throughout the run managing to knock another 2 mins off in 1:05 - I really can't see me improving tomorrow.....

Sunday, July 1, 2012

Saturday

Thought I'd try same 14.81km loop again for a 3rd day - didn't think I could improve on yesterdays run and was cursing the warm weather to begin with - and felt struggling on the one hill - but started to feel better at the top of the hill and then the weather changed rapidly as a storm suddenly closed in - ended up getting soaked and the rain was quite cold - but I still managed to finish a minute better then yesterday in 1:07 - so have to be pleased.

Saturday, June 30, 2012

Friday

Not happy with yesterdays run I decided to repeat. It was a lot cooler today and managed to run 4 mins quicker in 1:08 for the 14.81km despite having a headwind in the latter part - so a lot happier.

Friday, June 29, 2012

Thursday

Managed to get out early before approaching thunderstorm for the 14.81km loop - was very slow going from the off with extreme humidity and heat - shirt was soon heavy with sweat - toes also were very sore making for a slow uncomfortable run in 1:12

Thursday, June 28, 2012

Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday

Monday - Did road first then returned by trail - slower return and forgot total time - but around 1 hour.Qiite hot.
Tuesday - 14.81km run - in around 1:10? - rainy?
Wednesday - 13.29km run in 1:02 - quite warm and humid.

Monday, June 25, 2012

Sunday

New 15.08km loop - as I felt I should at least try a slightly longer run.Weather better and right knee injury a lot better - turned out pretty slow I guess as it took an hour and ten min's.Hand injury still very sore with a lot of tendon and knuckle damage almost 5 weeks since falling.

Sunday, June 24, 2012

Saturday

Repeated same 13.29km run as yesterday - this time still very windy but not raining and actually quite warm running.
Took about an hour again and was hampered by heartburn - probably caused by a glass of Orange concentrate juice.

Saturday, June 23, 2012

Thursday & Friday

Thursday - did 7.5 mile run as Tuesday in around an hour.
Friday - bad weather - ran in torrential rain - did another loop from new address - 13.29KM
not very fast - tailwind on way out - headwind on way back causing slow run of an hour.

Thursday, June 21, 2012

Wednesday

Slow jog around local countryside - out for about an hour.

Wednesday, June 20, 2012

Tuesday

Did my old 18.97km loop Fly Route  - I used to do this in close to 1:10 and almost reach the 16km point at the hour mark even though undulating - today it took close to 1:30 with excruciating toe pain over the last 5km - I noticed an awful lot more traffic and difficulty in not getting stopped at crossings etc.Right knee again sore also.

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

Monday

Forgot to mention that right inside knee had been very sore again for the last couple of days - requiring Ibruprofin yesterday.Today did a 7.55 mile road loop
Went OK - Knee not as bad but still noticeable - took about 50 mins - ish.

Monday, June 18, 2012

Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun

Another rest day as travelling back to Greater Manchester on Thursday after packing.
Friday - went a slow 35 min jog around wet muddy fields.
Saturday - jogged to a friends house - chatted for an hour then jogged back - about 17 mins each way...
Sunday - Another jog around fields - had to climb over fences to avoid flooded paths and snagged hand on barbed wire - very slow going for about an hour - finished with the usual sore toes...

Thursday, June 14, 2012

Wednesday

Finally got out for a run around the Shropshire countryside - turned out to be very hilly and although OK at first - toes began to hurt soon and it was pain all the way from then on....was glad to finish and massage the sore toes....did I suppose about 10km - but didn't time it - but know it was really slow...

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

Monday & Tuesday

Haven't been able to run so far as packing stuff to go back to Australia again - banged head 3 times on basement doorway and put lower and upper back out so not feeling very fit....

Monday, June 11, 2012

Sunday

Last run in Blackpool as leaving today - decided on longer slow run to/around Fairhaven lake - 17.5km.
Faster then of late - after yesterdays rest day in 1:19 - still a lot slower then last year when I was averaging below 1:15 and not without problems - breathing, toes as usual but also the right knee cartilage injury re-emerged as I stepped suddenly the bone on bone feeling just momentarily but enough to cause tension over last km of run along with sore toes.

Sunday, June 10, 2012

Friday & Saturday

Friday was a little bit of a let down as I felt very tired and lacking in energy.I had to ease off completely and just concentrate on putting one foot in front of the other - finished the 12.5km loop in 1 hour.Saturday - decided at around 3pm to call it a rest day as still feeling very tired.

Friday, June 8, 2012

Wednesday & Thursday

Wednesday - did long slow run 17.5km in 1:24/5 toes of course as usual a big problem
Thursday - did 12.7 km loop - a bit disappointed with 57mins as I tried the whole way but felt out of sorts with the left calf still a problem making running unrelaxed.

Wednesday, June 6, 2012

Monday & Tuesday

2 X 12.7km and managed 55 mins again both days.
Monday was quite bright and breezy and a little bit of hayfever felt - had to work hard the whole way and was surprised I managed 55 mins.Tuesday was again cooler and ran into wind on outward which was preferable - felt better breathing wise and knew It was quite fast - but had a tightness/pain in Left calf/achilles - so tried to stretch a little after run.

Monday, June 4, 2012

Sunday

Bad day for pageants on the Thames - great day for running...Managed to equal p.b. for the 12.7km loop at 55 mins - felt OK apart from injured right hand very sore with cool weather.

Sunday, June 3, 2012

Saturday

Did longer - slower 17.5km run - quite nice running weather and apart from running on empty a little having only a banana since breakfast and leaving just before 4pm - it went OK - time 1:22

Saturday, June 2, 2012

Friday

Decided to do same loop again 12.7km - after going at it reasonably hard I was suffering as usual around midway but never felt that I'd got breathing under control and finished a bit ragged - therefore I was pleasantly suprised that I'd only taken 55 1/2 mins as it definitely didn't feel as fast as the previous 3 days.

Friday, June 1, 2012

Thursday

Cooler today after morning rain and same 12.7km loop.Again although didn't go off that fast still stuggled around mid section before breathing finally came under control - and again finished better in around 56 mins.

Thursday, May 31, 2012

Tuesday & Wednesday

Did the 12.7km loop both days and improvement both days at around 56 1/2 mins.Tuesday set off more reasonable pace and also weather a little cooler - after rough mid section - finished strong and feeling good.Wednesday similar but a little warmer with little or no breeze but low cloud cover and high humidity - thought I'd run slower but was surprised at time.

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

Monday

Back to the shorter run and was struggling a bit with breathing that got progressively worse by about 3km.Had to back of pace incrementally 'till breathing was under control - improved later in run and was a hard day to get time to a time of 58 mins - which is still slow - but at least a slight improvement.Toes still sore on right foot - of course.

Monday, May 28, 2012

Sunday

Remembered Claratyne today - but seemed to make me very sleepy and had afternoon nap after watching Monaco G.P.
Set off to do longer slower run but was a lot slower then I'd hoped.Wore Nike Frees - which I thought had caused heel injury.Although late it was still very hot and I struggled from the start.Had to stop twice - first to redo lace and then later to massage toes which appear more painful then ever - finished in a very slow 1:30 - ( last year I was running this as a short run and under 1:15)

Sunday, May 27, 2012

Friday & Saturday

Hard going for both runs in the warm conditions - the main problem being not the heat but the heavily pollen laden air.
Seem to injest more and more the harder the breathing gets and results in stomach pains and a general related weakness.
Fridays run - set off reasonably hard - but soon was struggling and finished in a slow 1 hour.Saturday set off more reasonable struggled midway but finished well albeit with very sore right foot toes in 59 mins.
2 slow runs - I did have some Clarytin but forgot to take it....

Friday, May 25, 2012

Thursday

Good news and bad news - did the long slow option (17.5km), in a p.b. of 1:24 - but toes again so painful over last few km's - very
demotivational - and still shocked/painful hours after run.The toes are definitely going worse and not as hoped better.Seems like I might be limited to around 12km unless I can sort out toes.

Thursday, May 24, 2012

Wednesday

Hoped for a faster run today as 53rd birthday - again wore racer trainers and thought I'd set off too hard at 3-4km where wheels started as usual to fall off. After struggling for a few kms I regained breath enough to finish stronger in a new p.b. of 55mins - big step forward - left foot still sore - got egg thrown at in last km - but just like their soccer team they were pathetically miles off goal the egg splattering against wall :)

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

Tuesday

Left foot was still sore ths morning - and it meant either miss the run again or make the decision to ditch the orthotics.
I decided to run in different shoes minus orthotics and ended up taking 56.5 mins - a new p.b. even though I didn't feel I ran that hard.Of course toes were still bad - but generally feel a lot more comfortable without the orthotics. The feet are still getting very hot and sore - today was the first real day of summer - with temps creeping up and the air thick with pollen etc.

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

Monday

No run today - the problem I've had for a while which I thought was laces damaging tendons on top of Left foot and deep blister forming underneath - turns out to be some kind of injury. It feels like a neuroma and in that exact spot.
Have taken Nurofen and slobbed about watching cheesy daytime movies - so feeling a bit negative reagarding being able to take any more with these orthotics.Hand is still a problem with 2 main knuckles  still very sore.

Sunday

Tried longer 17.5km run today - finished in 1:25 but usual crippling toe pain ensued and spoiled latter part of run.
Also orthotic bulge is causing a deep blister between toes of left foot - may have to try without orthotics soon.
Hand had turned yellow today - swelling gone down more but 2 knuckles quite sore.

Saturday

Hmm - tried setting off at a more realistic pace today and for same 12.7km loop managed 57.5 mins, still stuggled but not nearly as much. The question being - was it as good training not suffering as much. The problem is being limited by the amount of time I can run - I feel I have to flog it to gain any progress.....I'm just not happy running for less then 2 hours..

Friday

12.7km loop again - usual scenario - set off fine - just suddenly run out of steam at about 3-4km - struggled with breathing even though slowed considerably - is it age or a lung issue?Hand was improved slightly with swelling reducing and managed to complete run without a fall! - in 59 mins.

Thursday

Managed to get out for the 12.7km loop despite hand being very swollen and blue palm.Struggled to tie laces but was OK running just a lack of confidence in the toeless shoes being a trip hazard.Unbelievably with about 1km to go a girl on a scooter rode right under me causing me to anchor on and fell over her in an attempt not to knock her over.I landed on both hands but seemed to avoid any more injury. Her father was apologetic as he could see I'd done my level best to avoid the collision as she came diagonally across the pavement without thought of looking where she was going.
Drawn into conversation with neighbor so didn't manage to get to clock in apartment to check time so I'll say 60 mins but hopefully despite being breathless for most of the run was a little faster.

Wednesday

Stubbed my toe on a raised paver soon after starting the run today - injuring right hand after falling hard onto the concrete - so had to abort the run.Fortunately nothing seems broken - but blue trama marks to inside of hand and unable to use effectively.

Tuesday

Finally equaled my p.b. of 57 mins today over the 12.7km loop.Very strong tailwind for the first 4 or so km - which turned to headwind later.Still felt quite breathless in parts but could feel progress being made.

Monday

Back to shorter faster run today - 12.7km loop.It was a bit breezy but once out of the coastal wind was very hot.Pushed throughout the run and finished in 59 mins.No recurrence of heart issue from yesterdays longer slower run - as toes didn't get to same level of pain.

Monday, May 14, 2012

Sunday

Decided to try longer slow jog today - 17.5km - went well to begin with despite strong winds along coast.
After toe pain started as usual on right toes tried to ignore pain but with the intensity felt I was going into cardiac arrest and was gulping air hoping heart would settle.I really need to get these toes re operated on soon.

Saturday

Same 12.7km loop - but felt better about finishing in 58 mins - still off p.b. by a minute - but I pushed pretty hard for most of the run.

Saturday, May 12, 2012

Friday

12.7KM Loop today - had a huge tail wind for the first 3-4km and really tried the whole way - so was disappointed to have taken 59 mins - about 2 mins slower then P.B. - but at least feet weren't quite as bad.

Friday, May 11, 2012

Thursday

Felt tired - even though well rested...so tried a the longer slower option 17.5km - was really slow and toes on right foot felt like a steam roller had ridden over them - from 40 mins - so finished very ragged - as usual when I try to run longer.

WEDNESDAY

Same time as yesterday 1hr - but felt a lot more comfortable feet wise - redid laces that were damaging tendons and it was good running in light rain - but not cold.

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Tuesday

Better then yesterday - so must be considered progress - same 12.7km loop in 1hr.Immediately after setting off I realised that laces towards toes were aggravating tendons - decided to try and carry on - made for more uncomfortable then already with feet issues - but doesn't feel like any serious injury done.

Monday

Persisted with Mizunos - but was very slow for the whole run but at least didn't have to stop and finished in 1:02.Not so much concerned about time as being able to run with some level of comfort.

Monday, May 7, 2012

Sunday

Another bit of a disaster - I cut out the toes of a pair of Mizunos - so they'd fit my orthotics and try to give relief to toes.
The orthotics have a raised section under the insteps and I ended up stopping as the heat build up possibility if blistering became too great.Ended up taking 1:02 and not a promising start with the Mizunos.

Friday & Saturday

Friday - Had my best run yet for the 12.7km loop.Didn't run out of steam as usual and felt good in perfect cool windless conditions.Finished in equal best time of 57 mins - so very pleased.
Saturday - complete contrast to yesterday - felt tired all day in spite of lying in...decided to do longer slow run as recovery - but it turned out as a chore with sore feet and no energy.Finished ragged but didn't stop when toes were really sore so finished in 1:27 for the 17.5km

Friday, May 4, 2012

Thursday

Same 12.7km loop - managed 59 mins - it was great running weather again - said 14C for the local forecast - like running in air conditioned sunshine....

Thursday, May 3, 2012

Monday Tuesday Wednesday

Ran Monday 12.7km - but can't remember time,
Was away from Monday till Wed' so didn't get to run Tuesday
but got in a late run - 12.7km on Wed evening - 57 1/2 mins.

Monday, April 30, 2012

Sunday

Got really late - 5:30pm before I managed to get out - but finally managed the 17.5km loop.Had to stop as usual to massage toes due to pain and so it took 1:32.Weather was really bad - rained - cold rain all day - wore lightweight jacket.

Sunday, April 29, 2012

Saturday

I was pleased to finally get out today as I'd settled watching the snooker and didn't feel like it at all.In the end I managed to equal yesterdays 58 mins for the 12.7km loop - which was quite pleasing.

Saturday, April 28, 2012

Friday

With perfect weather - after a few days of rain - went surprisingly well and was pleased to finish in 58 mins.Only problem was toe on right foot as always still gets very painful after 40 mins.

Friday, April 27, 2012

Wednesday & Thursday

Wed - 12.7km - wheels again fell off and ongoing foot problems add to the slowness - Plantar? strained at front instep,(behind big toe).Took a very slow 1:03
Thursday - same 12.7km - worked hard but struggled again all round - both feet and breathing for 1:01.

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Tuesday 12.7km

Was surprised when I'd finished that the clock was telling me that I'd only taken 59 mins - as it never felt fast and wheels well and truly fell off just before half way. Also I'd not noticed a large instep blister from yesterday - but decided to run anyway.Had problems with right foot again even sock/blister etc so wasn't as yesterday enjoyable.

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Saturday - Sunday - Monday

Saturday - injured - knees and right foot.
Sunday - went really slowly with sore knees and foot seemingly losing it's structural integrity - connected to Plantar Fasciia and also long standing injury where Achilles joins to heel bone.
Ended up taking a very slow 1:07 for the 12.5km
Monday - set off a bit faster and even though outside of knee was still sore - quite enjoyed the run - and relieved to finish the same 12.5km in 1:01.

Saturday, April 21, 2012

Friday 12.5km

Bit of a disaster day - had a problem with right foot/leg but carried on regardless as I was timing it.Finished ragged and injured in 62 mins - later a lot of swelling in knees - may have to take a rest day.

Friday, April 20, 2012

Thursday - 12.5km loop

Managed to get under the hour - 59 mins - but it was a struggle the entire run.I tend to get to about 3km and run out of steam - a definite sign of being unfit....

Thursday, April 19, 2012

Tuesday & Wednesdays

Tuesday - tried 12.7km loop - wheels fell off a bit and it took 1:01:30 so quite slow,
Wednesday - thought I'd try longer 17.5 km but take it slow from the off.I was slow...and had to stop 2/3rds of the way to massage sore toe - eventually taking 91mins - so 2 quite slow days - but just happy to be able to run at all for now.

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Monday 12.7km

Did usual loop - and set off with a purpose - but faded to finish in 58 mins.

Monday, April 16, 2012

Saturday & Sunday

Saturday was usual 12km loop in 59 mins - a bit slower again.
Sunday - tried a longer run 17.79km
had to stop twice to remove right shoe and massage toes/foot - then return was into a quite strong headwind so not surprising it took almost 1.5 hours.

Saturday, April 14, 2012

Friday the 13th

Same 12.7km loop - 58 mins - a min slower then yesterday - but not as fresh.

Friday, April 13, 2012

Thursday

After a 65 day complete break - started back about a week and a half or so ago.Started with a few days jog/walk but soon got up to a constant jog.Heel is finally showing signs of recovering after the lay off of both running and stretching.
Worked up to a loop of 12.58km
Which I've done 4 times now - progressively taking the time down from 1hr 1min,1hr 0 min,
59min - then after an easy recovery day yesterday - 57 mins today.
